Changing with the Sky .... soon.

I can't wait.

Our new CD, Changing with the Sky, is at the duplicators. Although the audio master was ready in November of 2009. The choice of packaging was not easy. Keep in mind that Lezlie and I have been performing as Street Corner Choir for less than a year. We decided on a regular jewel case, to start out. We're not getting a closet full either. But if enough people buy our CD from this production run, we may get a cool, eco-wallet version.
Then I started thinking about lyrics. I PROMISED myself that my next CD would have lyrics printed somehow. No more 20 pound bond double sided black and white folded weird kind of inserted lyric sheets. The real deal. So I set out to include them on the four panel cover piece.
But we have 13 songs...with lots of lyrics...good lyrics...but LOTS of words. I tried 6 point type. (Now this is really small. This is like the type on those little eye drop medicine bottles that actually hurts your eyes it's so small.) Not small enough to fit. Would you believe 5.3 point type? So we may hand out those little cheap (inexpensive) magnifying glasses with the CDs.

Also, I thought it would be cute to do a hand-lettered cardboard sign for the photo shoot with Erik Karlsson. (Boy, did he give us a break on a really professional shoot!) And I went nuts with cardboard as the theme. Even our website uses cardboard, hand-lettered buttons. Sheesh! So the CD art, well, as you can see from the website, which you must visit, took this to the extreme. Now as someone who has always done his own CD artwork, I have raised the bar for doing something unique with computer art for a CD cover. But this was beyond retro, it was beyond do-it-in-your-kitchen, it was CD art, well, on the street corner. So sue me. Once I get ahold of a design challenge, I'm a man possessed. I just hope it brings a smile.

So now I'm calling the duplicator every day. I'm looking at the calendar. I'm dreading the inevitable delays.

I can't wait.
